The Impact of Terrorism on the Academic and Social Level

Workshop
As part of the scientific activities and events of the College of Pharmacy for the academic year 2024-2025, the College of Pharmacy - Rehabilitation, Employment and Follow-up Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a workshop on Thursday 10/23/2024, a scientific symposium entitled
(The Impact of Terrorism on the Academic and Social Level)
The workshop was attended by Lecturer Dr. (Marwa Shakib Dhanoun), a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy, and Assistant Lecturer (Zuhair Sabbar Rabi), a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy as well.
It included that terrorism is a global phenomenon that transcends borders, cultures and religions, and that combating it requires the combined efforts of all parties, but our war with terrorism is not only a military war, because terrorism is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon, and each aspect requires a special approach to confront it, and therefore the efforts made to challenge extremism and terrorism must be addressed at all levels and from various aspects, especially at the academic and social levels, as they constitute a safety valve in confronting the phenomenon of terrorism in all its forms.
Therefore, we note that terrorism has had a direct impact on social rights, through attacks on economic and industrial facilities, in addition to targeting the moral and ideological system.
This has led to a decrease in economic activity due to the isolation of the population and the lack of employment opportunities, including a decrease in purchasing power and the spread of unemployment, and it has a very negative impact on the field of education and higher education through the spread of the phenomenon of school dropout, which poses a great danger to society in wasting human energies, in addition to draining the state budget, in addition to other threats that cannot be listed.
The seminar aimed to combat terrorism and its impact on targeted communities, as well as to raise community awareness of the importance of participating in security through promoting education, culture and economic opportunities.
